My cousin, who battled COVID-19 for 31 days, 14 of those days in an induced coma while on a ventilator, I am happy to say was released this past Friday, 4/24. It is by the grace of God and all the doctor, nurses and 1st responders she was able to walk the halls of the hospital lined with doctors and nurses clapping as the U2 song Beautiful Day played over the PA system...she walked toward the hospital exit. It truly was a BEAUTIFUL DAY!
As much as I no n u no there distructiveness of their engines,I still miss them coming in from europe and making a turn ova head n slowing. This song should play the day we all go bac to normal, whateva the new norm is,we must accept an thrive.
The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town
You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere
You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace
It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination
You're lovin' this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day
Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case
See the world in green and…
The Premiership. This song reminds me of that special period of my childhood where football was in its prime. That show was incredible and the opening credits with this song were just iconic for me. This takes me back to being 12 every time
This song remembers me so much to my sister, who died last year. She was a huge fan of U2.. I love this song since the first time I heard it, and I love her so much too.. she always made me feel that all days next to her were such a "Beautiful day" :(
About ten years ago, I was living in Dublin. One particularly rainy day, I picked up some meds for a sick friend and headed to their place in a taxi. The driver, a black fellow with a thick African accent, greeted me with a massive smile, asked me how I was, and when I asked him back he replied with "I'm doing great mate, it's a beautiful day". At that point, some random song was playing on the radio, but when it switched to Beautiful Day, that guy's smile got even wider and he looked at me, saying "See mate? I told you, it's a beautiful day", drumming on his steering wheel to the rhythm all the way.
It's one of those moments I go back to when I feel really down and need a pick me up.
