Miss Lyudmila Pavlichenko is a true legend. She looked like a charming nurse, but was deadly like a predator. She literally shot down the patriarchal Nazi dream of world domination and at least, 300 Nazis can feel honored to have been killed by a bullet of Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
I wonder if she saw his guitar case, and gave a smile?. "Nice sentiment, but I have a better machine for the purpose, Mr Guthrie", I imagine her saying.
In soviet union women were considered equal to men, there weren't more sniper women, they just were. In other countries, women weren't emancipated yet.
This isn't about the American people and Russian people, it's about proletarian internationalism. Working class men and women are always grateful to their brothers and sisters in arms.
It's very weird that nowadays American, as well as West European Politicians don't seem to remember the decisive contributions of the Russian (or Soviet) Army and People to defeat the German Nazis. If they would remember and realize the meaning of these facts, the relationship between the present Russia and the so-called Western World could be much more Open and Productive than it actually is now. I'm from Amsterdam Holland by the way. Also, nobody talks anymore about the Political Ideas of Gorbachov, summarized as 'Glasnost' and 'Perestroika'. Good Ideas !
I am Russian and I am very surprised that the Americans are so grateful to our people, I thought you presented a different story, where the Soviet Union played a minor role in the war, and your media in every way you have set up against Russia, but no, I'm happy
