When they left scandinavia the biggest populated country was sweden and most likely didnt had more than top 2-4 mill inhabitants (at the time.) Why bother teaching a language that wouldnt help your grandparents at all where they grew up? Languages can be thought, but your heritage cant, see it positively ;)

"Valravn" means "raven of the slain" in Danish. In Danish folklore, the valravn is a supernatural raven created when a raven had eaten part of the body of a knight or noblemen killed on the battlefield. The Danish group, Valravn, started out as the acoustic Medieval music ensemble, Virelai, which got its start playing traditional music at Medieval Fairs. Valravn sings old Faroese ballads in the original language, accompanied by traditional and electronic instruments.

My favourite Valravn song by far! I saw the translation of the lyrics and it reminds me of Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia (née Princess Dagmar of Denmark) because she felt all alone in the end...

Why did my great grandparents leave Scandinavia for Canada!? And then not pass down the languages.
