You wander around on your own little cloud
When you don’t see the why or the wherefore
You walk out on me when we both disagree
'Cause to reason is not what you care for
I’ve heard it all a million times before
Take off your coat, my love, and close the door
Don’t sleep in the subway, darlin', don’t stand in the pouring rain
Don’t sleep in the subway, darlin', the night is long
Forget your foolish pride, nothing’s wrong
Now you’re beside me again
You try to be smart, then you take it to heart
'Cause it hurts when your ego is deflated
You don’t realize that it’s all compromise
And the problems are so overrated
Goodbye means nothing when it’s all for show
So why pretend you’ve somewhere else to go Don’t sleep in the subway, darlin', don’t stand in the pouring rain
Don’t sleep in the subway, darlin', the night is long
Forget your foolish pride, nothing’s wrong
Now you’re beside me again
Don’t sleep in the subway, darlin'…
when she did adds for My dad's Company Burlington Industries and Burlington House Furniture. I got to meet her several times I was 8, My dad ran the Upfront and brought her to the recording studios In NYC when she did 9 jingles over two days with Burlington furniture and Lee's carpets
One of those nice songs of the sixties of the twentieth Century that are still good to hear. I always liked Petula's voice which is so feminine, sexy, tender and powerful too.
Musically sophisticated and subtle and the arrangement and playing of the studio band is perfection. The interest doesn't wane for a second. Petula's wonderful and passionate voice is the icing on it all. They really don't make them like this anymore.
This song immediately transports me back to the 1960s when my own life was a lot simpler, easier. It takes my mind off of things not so great in the present.
This is the first woman that I fell in love with when I was just a kid I had the biggest crush on her I love every one of her songs. And I'm still in love with her
She was of an era when true talent was more important than how you danced or what you are not wearing. You give me a choice between listening to Petula Clark or some of the modern dancers pretending to be singers, I would go for the actual singer.
When Petula hit it big during the British Invasion, she seemed so much older that all of those new stars, but her wonderful voice and talent made her special. Her beauty was unmatched, and, as a 14 yearold, I was smitten!

And the problems are so overrated
Goodbye means nothing when it's all for show
