The ocean is my wife. She died on april 15th. I'm thankful for the few years we had together. She gave me unconditional love, she was my best friend, she took care of me on the darkest of nights. I'd rather have had the few years we had together than nothing at all. She was the sand beneath my feet, she was the sound of the breaking waves. She lives on in our children. I know she is in heaven and one day I will see her again. I will miss her every day for the rest of my life. This song is the story of the life we had together.

This song is beautiful. It's not about the ocean as we know it. At least i precieve it differently. He's singing for the ocean as if its the one love. It's better to live it, even for a while(once) and miss it, than not live it at all(the sand beneath the feet feels great doesn't it?) Its a shame to not feel it
