Maybe I know that he’s been a cheatin'
Maybe I know that he’s been untrue
But what can I do
I hear them whispering when I walk by
He’s gonna break her heart and make her cry
I know it’s me they’re talking about
I bet they all think I’ll never find out
Oh, but maybe I know that he’s been a cheatin'
Maybe I know that he’s been untrue
But what can I do
My friends are telling me that he’s no good
He isn’t treating me the way he should
He really loves me that’s all I can say
Before my tears fall I just walk away
Oh, but maybe I know that he’s been a cheatin'
Maybe I know that he’s been untrue
But what can I do, oh
Deep down inside he loves me
Though he may run around
Deep down inside he loves me
Some day he’ll settle down
Oh, maybe I know that he’s been a cheatin'
Maybe I know that he’s been untrue
But what can I do
Oh, maybe I know that he’s been a cheatin'
Maybe I know that he’s been untrue
But what can I do
But what can I do
Why is it that it seems like people I know, celebrities, singers etc. are dying? Answer: because I am OLD ! omg ! Rest in Peace Lesley Gore, this song reminds me of 1964.
This will sound
made-up, but
yesterday I was
listening to this
great song in
a hotel/casino
lounge and a woman and her
husband appeared
near me, standing
by a railing, and I
made a remark
about how noisy
it was that led to
a little banter. Then I realized how much the
woman resembled
Leslie Gore in
the years before her death, and how she had her
hair styled the
same way that
Leslie wore it in
her teen prime.
The lady turned
out to be 66 years
old, and said she
has heard this all
of her life, and is a
HUGE admirer of
Leslie Gore, and
this is one of her
favorite songs!
We couldn't stop
talking, while her
husband good
naturedly listened
on pretty much in
an agreeing silence, realizing
it was OUR magic
moment!
Produced by the legendary Quincy Jones. One of the young composer's first arrangement and production assignments, and he NAILED it! It was the start of his career.
I currently working on a a screenplay on Lesly's life. She's a woman of first. She had a black producer. She was a songwriter, not just a singer and she was gay. On top of all of this, she was a wonderful person It has a working title 'YOU DON'T OWN ME". The Life Of Lesly Gore. Look for it later this year.
