I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year
All of the faces and all of the places
Wonderin' where they all disappeared
I didn’t ponder the question too long;
I was hungry and went out for a bite
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum
And we wound up drinkin' all night
It’s those changes in latitudes
Changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands
If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane
Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I’ve been
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again
If it suddenly ended tomorrow
I could somehow adjust to the fall
Good times and riches and son of a bitches
I’ve seen more than I can recall
I think about Paris when I’m high on red wine
I wish I could jump on a plane
And so many nights I just dream of the ocean
God, I wish I was sailin' again
Oh, yesterdays are over my shoulder
So I can’t look back for too long
There’s just too much to see waiting in front of me And I know that I just can’t go wrong
With these…
Lots of songs I've loved in my 56 years, but this has endured as one of my all time favorites. "If it suddenly ended tomorrow, I could somehow adjust to the fall. Good times and riches, and son of a bitches, I've seen more than I can recall." Perfection.
This is my dads favorite song , my dad passed away a few days ago at 63, This will now be one of my favorite songs , as my dad died listening to this song, as he was buried with his Margaritaville hat, rip dad, love you forever, your now waisting away again in Margaritaville
Every year the wife and I break out the grass skirts-coconut bikini tops and spend the weekend at Tampa fairgrounds being kids again. Kinda funny my wife had never really even heard anything except like Margaritaville or a few others and she really died laughin when she saw me break out my grass skirt and coconut bikini top the first time. That was till her first Buffett concert weekend. AHHH....my lil Parrot-Head was hooked when she saw the utter goofiness that makes up the Parrot-Head pack. =)
I believe this is my favorite Jimmy Buffet songs... always reminds me of my dear friend Cathy who had too much of all the things that came her way and ended things in the mid-90's
"Yesterday's over my shoulder, so I can't look back for too long. There's just too much to see waiting in front of me, and I know that I just can't go wrong" Words of wisdom.
i am stuck in a Jimmy Buffet time warp ha ha ha and loving every minute of it
i changed my latitude over 40 years ago and very happy i did

I recently lost my father to cancer, and he loved Jimmy Buffett more than anything. We spent his last days playing all his favourite tunes from Jimmy. I've been listening to Jimmy since I was a kid and I have many great memories with my dad. I'm so thankful for this music, as it brought him so much joy when he needed it most. I love you dad, rest easy.
Another "Jimmy-set-to-a-tune" to me. Indeed - if we couldn't laugh, we'd all go insane. Always remember: Don't take life too seriously . . . you're not about to get out of it alive.
