Forget the stupid rankings, greatest this and that. It is art, not a sport. Jimi not so much played the guitar as he did unleash some of the most powerful sonic forces ever heard. He was and is without equal. Anyone who hears this live performance and doesn't appreciate what an incredible, unbelievable artist he was simply is without a clue. The sounds he got out of a strat and marshall stack have yet to be duplicated and I'm sure never will.

This guy was just so ahead of his time that its unbelievable. The people that saw him in the 60's probably thought he was an alien from another galaxy or something.

1:44 is not even a real note! It's some sort of cosmic jimi thing that he conjured out of no where. He was such a magician! I think it's stuff like that this that reminds of how amazing he was not matter what time. Who else could pull this off....I think he just felt everything he did! He was carried away by his own playing.

This is the most insane thing the universe has ever heard. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Jimi had more talent, more energy, more charisma, and more sex appeal than any one man deserved.

I think this version of Johnny B Goode shows the difference between Hendrix and  other guitarists very well. Sonically he does things here that no other (known) guitar player can achieve. To some people this is just a noise but it is virtually impossible to recreate. He had all sorts of sounds in his head and had the extraordinary ability to share them through his guitar and he only used very basic effects.

Jimi plays better with his teeth than most people with their hands

1:44 1:45, the ultimate note. He pulled that note out of his soul.

"You know, when I looked at Eric I saw a master guitarist...while Jimi...was some kind of force of nature." - Jack Bruce
