Personally, I think this kicks the shit out of The Animals version. Its a great song in general though that's for sure.

This song truly shows how Brian can sing. My god I have chills. Never heard this much range come from him, I can hardly believe I'm listening to the same guy. He's got such a good soft voice which I don't think I've ever truly heard in this fashion from him.

Heavy and dragging song, like an iron ball tied to the heart.

The way Brian sings here reminds me of Robert Plant with Led Zeppelin

And this is for those who say Brian is not a good singer! not only he's really good, he's one of the best ever!! and not just because of this performance, but because of all his performances. The different ways he could sing, hitting amazingly high notes with such a power, as in Back in Black, FTATR, even Flick of The Switch" albums in 'DC. his range was just ridiculously amazing in his prime. But even though we could say he did lose "his voice" a bit in mid 80's - didn't hit as high and clean notes (could still go really high, including around beginning of 90s), but never lost the power in his voice.. but that happens when you're doing it 100% every night. nonetheless, me and other people really like that type of voice (rougher, lower sounding like in Ballbreaker and SUL). and still, to this day in latter part of his 6th decade, he can still sing amazingly, especially for his age - cleanly, with power, range. for me he's the best ever!!!

I was 12 years old when I bought this album and AC DC had not been born yet. My God I had taste for a young fella! Apart from the singing range, the guitar work is pretty hot too! Here's a wee bit of info for ya. Brian was penniless soon after this, fitting sunroofs to cars in a backstreet garage in Newcastle when he was invited, on Bon Scott's suggestion that only Brian was fit to replace him, to trial with ACDC. He had to borrow the plane fare to get there from a media fella you might have heard of called James Whale and the rest is history. I'm glad this stuff is available on the net nowadays as many never accepted or realised the vocal talent of Brian in his own right as he replaced such a legend but he is in my humble opinion, one of the best rock/blues vocalists in the world up there with Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Paige and Ian Gillan!
