This is one of my all-time favorite songs and I cry every time I hear it. It's so powerful and emotional, you can pinpoint the turmoil and torment and then the acceptance and peace at the end. It's perfection; emotion perfectly translated through music. Rest In Peace, Chuck. You were a beautiful soul taken too soon.

And people say metal doesn't take any talent

Am I the only one who doesn't feel death and sadness hearing this masterpiece? It seems more like acceptance of human nature, death included, and expression of various deep and intimate "states of soul".

The electric and acoustic guitar represent different things. The acoustic guitar represents wanting to die, and the electric guitar represents the will to fight for your life. Throughout this song the electric and acoustic guitar are playing over each other, until finally the will to live is gone, and the acoustic guitar ends the song. No matter how much you wish to die, the will to live that is inside of you always fights on, as hard as it may be to carry on living.

Fun Fact: Chuck wrote this song about a dream he had where he saw his own death.

The way the Electric Guitar blends so seamlessly with the acoustic is beautiful. When people tell me Metal is all about screaming, and bashing fuckin pots together, I refer them to this lmao.

This was played at my best friends funeral, probably the saddest times of my life thus far. Still almost in tears and more than likely will be by the time its done. The first time i heard it was with him when he came over all excited to show me something all those years ago and it blew our little metal minds, and the last time he heard it was with all of us at his funeral, fuck life isnt fair
