Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin’s sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then
My brothers will die
And as the sky’s falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow on the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
In my soul is strength before unknown. I walk toward destiny unwavering. The fierce wind battering my cloak about my ankles, ripping my hood from my head. My plait threatening to come loose from its bonds. Tendrils of hair whirl about. The castle ahead drawing near. Smoke reaches my nostrils. I see fire and that is where I go.
Holy shit, this made me cry.
I listened to this by water, with a storm coming in, blowing strong winds that you can feel, and see in the grass and trees, and I'm watching the world crumble at the hands of humans, my own life is in despair right now, I'm very ill because of human hands. And so are my animal companions that live in the apartment with me.
I can't think of a more perfect song for this moment.
I CAME AS SOON AS I HEARD. And was not disappointed. It's like Yavanna took this song of pain and prayer and turned it into a lullaby for Mahal's children.
Different versions, different types of beauty.
Which is more beautiful, a sunrise, or a sunset?
Still the kind of beauty that causes my soul to weep
(together with my eyes.)
Thank you, Ladies!
