In the cool of the evenin' when ev'rything is gettin' kind of groovy
I call you up and ask you if you'd like to go with me and see a movie
First you say "No", you've got some plans for the night
And then you stop, and say, "All right"
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.
You always keep me guessin', I never seem to know what you are thinkin'
And if some fellow looks at you, it's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin'
I get confused, 'cause I don't know where I stand
And then you smile, and hold my hand
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky! Spooky! Yeah - yeah
If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are playin'
I'm gonna tell you all that my heart's been a-dyin' to be sayin'
Just like a ghost, you've been a-hauntin' my dreams
So I'll propose... on Halloween.
Baby, love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Ah, spooky, yeah-uh!
Some of these guys came from Jacksonville, Florida, where the original "Spooky" players were from. This is an incredible song ... lead work is just insane! Robert Nix used to come over to my house to practice with the original "Classics" and we shot hoops together. Always enjoyed being around him and even though I was just a kid, he was always a "bud" to me ... Had no idea JR Cobb had developed into that good a guitar player ...
Used to hear ARS on the radio all the time back n the day i bet if i requested it on my local classic rock station they probably won't have ARS n the house.I called few months ago requested Chicago 25or6to4 they said they didn't have any Chicago i couldn't believe it that crowd needs to get a life.
Always makes me think of dark, evening walks; whispering winds, dead leaves blowing along the sidewalk, the smell of wood fires throughout the neighborhood, cloudy moonlit October skies, dogs howling in the distance... I love this song.
Is you want to go back a little further there was a group called "Dennis Yost and the Classics 4 that did Stormy, Spooky and more. He formed the Atlanta Rythme Section. We'll never get musicians, bands it music as sweet and fluid ever again.
This is from Champagne Jam 1979 at Grant Field on the Georgia Tech campus. I was there. The Dixie Dregs, The Cars, Aerosmith, ARS. A good time was had by all.
One of the best lead guitar showcases of the 1970s. I used to get mad at the radio stations that played an edit of the song that cut the keyboard solo and the 2nd guitar solo. Fortunately, my old 45 featured this 5:00 version.
I saw these guys with Blue Oyster Cult back in 79-80 in Biloxi, MS. After the show, we were hanging out by the tour buses (when you could still do that) and Paul Goddard (RIP)stopped and talked with us for a good while. Such an awesome band and memories from my youth.
