Beautiful song, I strongly recommend to listen to the original tune by The Blue Nile (whose lead singer Paul Buchanan is also singing on the Armstrong version) ; less keyboards and strings, more guitar and real drums, in a word a stripped version, in my opinion even more beautiful than the Armstrong version.
The first time I heard this song I loved it....I cried and cried and must have listened to it 40 times, it is so beautiful "I know a place where everything is alright....alright.....let's go out tonight". The singer is Paul Buchanan, lead singer of the Glasgow Band "The Blue Nile"...what an amazing voice this man has and his Glasgow accent's the best too! Check out the album "High" by The Blue Nile - amazing....Barrelina XX
it seems we're all in accord...god his voice is breathtaking and the musical accompaniment is so haunting...soul stirring is an understatement...for some reason this song makes every hope, dream, fear and loss resonate inside you as if your mind had suddenly become a huge projection screen with all your thoughts of the past, present and future washing across it...dayum...i just can't put it in words...
This song will always haunt my heart. It will always remind me of my beloved former boyfriend, Mike. I owe him part of my soul. I can never forget him. I can never forgive myself. May there forever a place,
where every thing's alright. Baby, baby, Let's go out tonight.
