Home in the valley, home in the city
Home isn't pretty, ain't no home for me
Home in the darkness, home on the highway
Home isn't my way, home I'll never be
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm livin' for givin' the devil his due
And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
Time is the essence, time is the season
Time ain't no reason, got no time to slow
Time everlasting, time to play B-sides
Time ain't on my side, time I'll never know
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right
I've seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through
And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm livin' for givin' the devil his due
And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
The Reaper may be their most iconic song, but this one will always be my favorite. The chorus is so freaking catchy and the lyrics about a lover leaving everything behind, succumbing to his desire, even at the cost of burning himself to have it, is rock and roll af. Oh, and the guitar work. Epic.
One of the underrated rock bands of this generation. They only had a few real big hits like Don't fear the reaper and Godzilla. Also the song from the album Mirrors called In Thee.
Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn't pretty
Ain't no home for me
Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn't my way
Home will never be
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due
And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
Time is the essence
Time is the season
Time ain't no reason
Got no time to slow
Time everlasting
Time to play b-sides
Time ain't on my side
Time I'll never know
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right
I've seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through
Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due
And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I remember going on the road with my dad when he was truck driving and I was 8, playing these songs on a cassette. On the night road, watching as the yellow dashed lines go by listening to B.O.C. keeping my dad awake and cracking jokes. Miss those days. A lot simpler back then. I'm 24 now bout to have my first kid, definitely letting my child listen to the classics I'll never let my family forget the most powerful form of cultural music that all races can get into.
