Banned in D.C. with a thousand more places to go
Gonna swim across the Atlantic, cause that’s the only place I can go
You, you can’t hurt me
Why? I’m banned in D. C
We, we got ourselves
Gonna sing it, gonna love it, gonna work it out to any length
Don’t worry, no worry, about what people say
We got ourselves, we gonna make it anyway
You, you can’t hurt me
Why? I’m banned in D. C
And if you ban us from your clubs
It’s the right time, the right mind
And if you think we really care, you won’t find in my mind
No! You can’t afford, to close your doors, so soon no more
My, oh my
I’ll let you down upon the ground, so soon no more
No! You can’t afford to close your doors, so soon no more
My, oh my I’ll let you down upon the ground
Mainstream hard rock/metal elitists are some of the most pompous, obnoxious & close-minded people who don’t know what they’re missing with punk rock. It’s nice to get away from them on punk vids like this and my god, that solo is sick! One of my favorites along with Nirvana’s “Blew”.

In a 2007 interview in Pitchfork magazine, bass player, Darryl Jenifer said it was a myth that Bad Brains were ever banned from playing in Washington D.C., their home town. Darryl Jenifer said the band got kicked out of ONE fraternity party, but they were able to play in any D.C. club that booked hardcore punk bands or anywhere else in D.C. that wanted a hardcore punk band. Can you imagine the look on those frat boys faces when Bad Brains started playing and the punks started slam dancing in a mosh pit. I wish I was there.
This has to be my favorite song ever. The transition between the second act of the song is so beautiful. I would kill to hear the guitar solo live and live in the moment.
